This course will cover the period from the death of St John until the 1st Council of Constantinople (381). While the Roman Empire was being sanctified by the blood of martyrs, heretics stirred up doctrines contrary to the Faith, and God raised up many saints to teach us more deeply in His mysteries.

Topics to be covered include liturgy and sacraments in the early Church, persecutions, early heresies, the development of Trinitarian theology, monasticism, and councils local and ecumenical.
